The Bridge

The Bridge, a PHMC affiliate, is residential substance abuse treatment program for adolescents and an outpatient program for persons of all ages, located in Lower Northeast Philadelphia. The Bridge’s mission is to provide a comprehensive continuum of culturally sensitive services to address clients’ physical, psychological, emotional, familial, social, educational, vocational and spiritual needs.

Since 1971, The Bridge’s professional team have developed a unique expertise in treating high-risk youth, helping more than 15,000 individuals and their families challenged by addictions and mental health problems. The Bridge’s evidence-based treatment models create the foundation for the program to provide a comprehensive continuum of services that address clients’ physical, psychological, educational, vocational and spiritual needs.

The Bridge recognizes that substance abuse is only one part of a complex problem syndrome requiring a comprehensive, multi-systemic intervention strategy to ensure that change is enduring. Interventions target multiple risk and protective factors, with a particular focus on co-occurring psychiatric distress, trauma and family issues. The program’s philosophy focuses on clients’ strengths and assets rather than on weaknesses or deficits. The Bridge seeks to reinforce positive behaviors and develop each client’s unique talents. Clients are referred from the Delaware Valley and surrounding counties.
