DHS Parenting Collaborative

The Department of Human Services' Parenting Collaborative was created in 2001 and is currently composed of a city-wide network of over 40 provider agencies. The innovative public-private partnership utilizes parenting education to reinforce supportive behaviors of parents, enhance parenting skills and teach alternative approaches to child rearing as a means to prevent child abuse and reduce the need for child protective service interventions. Since its inception, thousands of Philadelphia parents, stepparents, grandparents and other caregivers have learned hands-on nurturing and positive parenting techniques.
